Excerpt

I lead her to the stool where I normally serve her dinner. She climbs up and slides her pert arse across the wood. Crossing her gorgeous legs out of habit. That tempt me more than ever knowing how close I came to having some other bastard touch them.

She takes in the mess on the floor behind me. Anxiety drawing down her face as she peruses the damage. “What happened?”

My palm cups her cheek to turn her back to face me. The only thing I give a damn about is settling things between us. Setting her straight about other men. Or the lack there of going forward. “I dropped it.”

“Andy?”

Now she knows I’m the one who’s lying. Silky hair brushing across my forearm as she tilts her head in worry and disbelief. Making the cords tighten from her concern over my stuff. Over my anger. Over me.

I place my fists on each side of the counter behind her. Locking her in place. Trapping her between my arms. Applying old interrogation methods she won’t be able to fight. “Who was that guy?”

She swallows and licks her lips. Responding to the demand pulsing in my tone.

“Josh. Lauren’s engaged to his older brother Logan.”

Tension surges between us from the proximity of our bodies. From her squirming in her seat. From her looking up at me with no way out from under my gaze. “Are you going to go out with him?”

Never fucking happening but I want to know what she intends. What she mistakenly believes I’m going to allow her to get away with.

“We just met.”

I don’t fall for her dismissive tone. As if the idea is preposterous. As if she’s never considered the possibility. As if I have nothing to be concerned about. “Are you going to go out with him?”

My voice is low, hard, almost unrecognizable even to myself with a possessiveness I’ve never heard. I’ve never experienced until now.

“Lauren is trying to fix us up. A double date. She thinks–”

“What do you think?”

She shivers when I lean closer. My nose nudging her hair out of the way while my lips brush over her ear. A shuddering breath blows against my cheek and fireworks explode across my skin when her hand curls over my opposite shoulder. Steadying herself from me engulfing her.

“He’s n-nice. He’s easy to talk to.”

“Of course he is. He wants to fuck you.”

“That’s all you think I am?” My accusation enrages her, and she twists to the side, trying to face me again. Too small to be at eye level she stares up at me with all the bravado she can muster, leveling me with her disgust. Before I got sympathy and compassion. Now I get unadulterated fury. She’s pissed as hell at me. Almost as much as I am at her. “That’s all you think anyone would ever want from me?”

What she lacks in size she makes up for in rage. Shredding me to the core with the pain in her wracked body. The mafia princess in her full glory as she rolls back her shoulders and gives me a hard shove. “Get the fuck off me!”

Fuck that. My hands encircle her wrists, and I diminish my force to ensure I don’t crush the fine bones under my fingers. “I’m not finished talking to you.”

“Well I’m finished with you. I’m tired of being humiliated. Now let me go!”

The agony in her voice slices through me, and I still. Shocked by her allegation. I’m hung over and my damn head’s spinning from booze and lust, but I know I can’t be hearing her right. “I may have fucked up more times than I can count, but I know I’ve never humiliated you.”

Straining against my grip, she keeps fighting for me to release her. Which will never happen. “That’s all you ever do.”

“Trouble, you’re going to have to explain it to me because I’m totally confused.”

Misery surges in me with the loss of her gaze. Unwilling to look at me. Her shoulders drooping as much as her fire fades. “When I held your hand you couldn’t get me off of you fast enough. And when I kissed you, you rolled away. It’s embarrassing that you don’t want me.”

No one has ever been more wrong than her in this moment. “Look down.” She draws in a shaky breath from the huskiness of my voice. From the need in my eyes and my touch and my body. “Look down at my cock and see how much I want you.”

Her forehead brushes my chin, and I breathe deep, relishing the enticing scent of her flowery shampoo with the top of her head near my lips as we stare at my dick bulging in my pants of its own volition. “I’ve wanted you since the first moment I saw you.”

“Then why do you keep rejecting me?”

“Because I’m an idiot.”

Once again I fuck up and have no choice but to let her go. Instantly, her arms cross over her chest in protection of her wounded heart. She still refuses to look at me. I force her to, sliding my fingers under her chin and lifting her exquisite face to mine. “If things were different I’d make you mine.”

“I want to be yours.”

Fuck. She is killing me. “You know that can’t happen.”

Review: The Sinner Unleashed

The Sinner Unleashed The Sinner Unleashed by J.L. Leslie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh lawd have mercy. J.L. Leslie has went above and beyond with The Sinner Unleashed. I'm not sure if she'll be able to top it. We'll have to wait and see.
Warren and McKenzie are so unapologetically loyal to their clubs, but how are they that but also have the hots for each other? Run, get The Sinner Unleashed and find out.

This book will not be for everyone. This book is not "safe". This book is darker than what this author usually writes, I loved ever minute of it.

Review: Deacon

Deacon Deacon by Faith Gibson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really love the Stone Society series. Loved Deacon and Sabrina. Grab the tissues ladies and gents. You will definitely need them.

I was a little disappointed with this book though. There just wasn't really that much danger. It was kind of a let down.

But I did love the story. It has good strong characters and a great plot.
I read an advanced copy of this book.

Warlord Unarmed Warlord Unarmed by Cynthia Sax
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As always Cynthia Sax wrote a winner. I loved Murad and Gale. They each had their own personal issues but together they worked them out and are a stronger couple for it. Strong characters that you could see yourself befriending.

Excerpt:
Late Saturday evening after dinner and a movie with Susan and their kids, Robert crept out of the governor’s mansion one last time to be with his other family. As he drove along the winding two-lane road, he contemplated ways to break the news to them. The closer he got to their house, the smaller he felt. Leaving Emma behind was the last thing that ever crossed his mind, despite the fact that he’d already done it. He’d gotten married, had children, and was enjoying a celebrity lifestyle while hiding her and their child in the shadows leaving them to survive on hollow promises and broken dreams. Now in order to protect them, he had to abandon them. With each passing mile, another piece of his heart broke off and disappeared.
“Where’s the fire assholes?” he barked when two dark colored sedans raced past him in the opposite direction.
Moments later, he found out. Orange flames and thick plumes of smoke filled the night sky above Emma’s farmhouse. The searing heat caused the vinyl top on his car to bubble up the moment he stepped out. The awesomeness of the blaze had the governor completely frozen. Tyler and Sam had been true to their words. They ‘handled’ his issue just like they promised. Accepting the fact that there was nothing that he could do except cry, Robert McKenna climbed back in his car and sped away with sirens wailing in the distance behind him.
The next morning while his family was away at church, Robert watched the news anxiously while downing shots of Scotch. The news anchor reported that the fire had been started by a gas leak that consumed the entire house and the adjacent barn almost instantly. Robert McKenna knew better.
“It’s highly unlikely that anyone could have survived a blaze of this magnitude,” were the last words that registered in his ears before the camera panned to the smoldering, watered-down heap where the massive six bedrooms, three bathroom farmhouse once stood.
With tears in his eyes, the heart-broken governor turned off the television and refilled his glass. Thoughts of Emma and Mona ripped him all the way to his soul. He spent the remainder of the day and the next two weeks in a depressed and drunken stupor.
Several months later just as Sam and Tyler had promised, Robert was seated as the Nebraska’s newest senator and over the next several years while under their thumbs ‘the people’s champion’ became one of the most powerful lawmakers on Capitol Hill. His prowess in the courtroom had successfully transferred to the Senate Floor. He was adored and admired by colleagues and constituents alike and though his triumphs were highly publicized, it was the work he did behind the scenes that proved most important. Senator McKenna was making himself and many others in his circle very wealthy. Now some thirty years later with Sam dead and Tyler at his side, Senator Robert McKenna was being groomed for his next assignment; President of the United States of America.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nicole Snow gets better and better with her books. The keep you on your toes suspense to the chemistry between Miller and Gwen was enough to make a person scream. The way these people conquered their fears was nothing short of a miracle and the love for each other. I'm talking no strings attached, unconditional love. It was beautiful.

Blog Tour - Priceless by Jane Henry

USA Today bestselling author Jane Henry delivers a high-stakes, gritty story of forbidden romance, devastation, and taboo love that knows no bounds.

She's barely legal.

Under my protection.

Fully off-limits.

But all mine.

Ruthless is a fully stand-alone spin-off from The Wicked Doms series.

Please note: this dark romance contains mild dubious consent, elements of violence, and kinky, sexual scenes. If such subject matters offend you, please do not read.

I lean over and gently restrain her, pushing her wild limbs down and kneeling on one knee beside her.

"Stop it," I order.

She looks at me then out the window and back again, tears filling her eyes. Her eyes flash with something I can't quite place, but soon the heated glare is unmistakable. She's pissed, and hell if that doesn't make my cock hard just looking at her.

She's gorgeous any day. She's stunning when she's angry.

"Mmmph."

Kneeling beside her, with my hands at the back of her head on the gag, I instruct her. "I will remove this gag if you promise to do exactly what I say. Do you understand me?"

She nods wildly.

I unknot my t-shirt and pull the gag free. She rubs her mouth and looks down, momentarily chastened while waiting for me to free her, though her eyes quickly flash at me again before she schools her features. I quickly unbutton my dress shirt and pull the slightly damp t-shirt back on, inhaling deeply but turning away from her so she doesn't know how the shirt, permeated with her scent and essence, affects me. I swallow hard, keeping my face stern and immovable.

"That was awful," she whispers. "I hate when you're mean."

Oh, no, we are not playing that game.

I lift her chin and bring her eyes to mine. "That wasn't awful. What you face if you disobey me? That will be awful. We're going into the hotel, and I insist you behave yourself. You speak to no one. You keep your eyes down. You do exactly what I tell you. Am I clear?"

Those gorgeous, luminous eyes look at me with hurt and anger and something deeper... something molten.

Fuck.

But she nods obediently, and I almost believe she's going to behave.

"Tell me you'll behave, Marissa."

"Fine," she says in a whisper, then yawns widely. The girl's exhausted.

"I mean it," I warn, and I fucking do.

"I know," she says, yawning again. "I'll be good."

I'm not convinced.

I chose the smallest, hole-in-the-wall hotel I could find, far less likely to be on the Bratva's map. The car I borrowed is unmarked, untraceable to my father or my brothers. My phone the same. Hers, however... I pull it out of my pocket and frown at it, then shove it back in. I'll have to dispose of it, but it's best if she doesn't know. She won't be too happy about that.

Walking into a place like this without bags won't draw any attention. This hotel was built for one-night stands. I open the door and gesture for her to go in ahead of me, earning me a heated glare.

"So now you're the gentleman," she says with an eye-roll.

"Watch the attitude, little girl." Christ, my palm itches to spank her feisty little ass.

She shoots me a mischievous grin.

Perhaps intimidation isn't the smartest tactic after all, given how she's misbehaved underneath my watchful eyes for years. I decide to try a different approach.

I've noted her wide-eyed gazes, the way she fidgets and when I pull closer to her. If my suspicions are right... and she is at all attracted to me in any way... I could try another angle.

I’m well versed in the fine art of domination.

I take her by the elbow and pull her to me in the small entryway before we enter the main lobby. Her skin is silk beneath my fingers, her fragrance exhilarant, but I take a deep breath and fix her with a warning look. Leaning in close, I brush her hair behind her ear, wanting to do so much more than that. To tangle my fingers in that mass of gorgeous waves and tug her head back before I capture her mouth with mine.

Wrong.

So fucking wrong.

I bring my mouth to her ear, caging her in the little space. "Unless you misbehave on purpose, Marissa? Is that what you want? Do you want me to punish you?"

The sound she emits is like a little mouse caught in a trap, a fetching squeak that almost makes me smile.

"Of course not," she protests, but the flush of her cheeks and widened eyes betray her.

"Are you sure about that?" I ask, hoping to embarrass her into silence. Gently, I run my fingers along the back of her neck, just enough to remind her how I control this. How I control her.

Just enough to ensure her compliance.

I shouldn't be doing this. Christ, I shouldn't be doing this, but the way her eyelids flutter and her cheeks color, I can't stop myself. What I wouldn't give to lay her down and make her moan until the sun sets and rises on a new day.

"Are you sure you don't want just that?" I keep my voice suggestive and salacious, allowing her time to think about the image I paint for her. "Me, overpowering you?"

She shakes her head but moves closer to me and swallows hard. She trembles, and it’s fucking beautiful.

I lean in and press my mouth so close to her ear I feel her warmth. "Laying you over my knees for the spanking you know you deserve?"

"Nooo," she says, but it's a moan this time, and though she's shaking her head, she's moved even closer to me.

"Then be a good girl," I breathe in her ear.

USA Today Bestselling author Jane has been writing since her early teens, dabbling in short stories and poetry. When she married and began having children, her pen was laid to rest for several years, until the National Novel Writing Challenge (NaNoWriMo) in 2010 awakened in her the desire to write again. That year, she wrote her first novel, and has been writing ever since. With a houseful of children, she finds time to write in the early hours of the morning, squirreled away with a laptop, blanket, and cup of hot coffee. Years ago, she heard the wise advice, “Write the book you want to read,” and has taken it to heart. She sincerely hopes you also enjoy the books she likes to read.

It does need a good proofreading. I'm tired of paying good money for a book that has terrible proofreading!!!!
